Putina istorie

Allianz are si el/ea (rezonanta e masculina, compania e feminina) o istorie. Istoria e pe scurt expusa in muzeul Allianz. Eu o voi face si mai scurta ca sa nu devin plictisitor. Si cum nu ma pricep sa spun povesti, voi pune exact textul care era pe niste placute din muzeu. Scoateti dictionarele de engleza si cititi!

Allianz Founded in Germany's Imperial Age
Allianz is founded in 1890 during a phase of unprecedented economic growth in Germany. With the new company Carl von Thieme and Wilhelm von Finck seek to complement the operations of the ,,Munich Reinsurance Company" with primary insurance. As CEO and Supervisory Board Chairman respectively, the two founding fathers control the fortunes of the company until the dawn of the 20th century.
The first primary insurance lines to be taken up by Allianz are personal accident and marine. From its head office in Berlin it quickly expands its area of operations to cover the entire country. Why Berlin? The legal requirements for setting up an insurance company are less stringent in Prussia than in Bavaria. A short time later a regional office is opened in the Maffeistrasse in Munich.

In 1891 Allianz can already pay its shareholders a dividend of 5 percent.

Allianz in the National Socialist Era

On January 30,1933 the National Socialists assumed power in Germany. Within a very short time they managed to take control of all major positions in government and society. Unwanted persons and political opponents were arrested. The disempowerment of the Jewish population showed that racism had become a key element of policy-making.
Economic policies were determined by war preparations. The annexation of Austria in 1938 marked the beginning of the expansionist era of Nazi Germany, which ultimately led to the attack on Poland and World War II. Anti-Semitic measures became increasingly radical. This development led to the Night of Broken Glass in November 1938 and ended with the Holocaust: the physical extermination of European Jewry.
Allianz also figured in this historical era: Labor unions were forced to toe the line, Jewish employees had to be dismissed, reserves had to be invested in war bonds. The company established business in territories under Nazi occupation and even insured production facilities on the sites of concentration camps.

Dealing with the past
The Nazi government's twelve-year reign came to an end with Germany's unconditional surrender on May 8, 1945. The Allies set out to mete out punishment for the crimes of the Third Reich by means of the Nuremberg trials and the denazification process. The victims of Nazi persecution were to be compensated by the return of stolen property and the payment of compensation for injustices suffered. The Federal Republic of Germany, which was set up in 1949, continued and extended this policy of compensation.
However, millions of forced laborers, especially those from eastern Europe, were not included in these compensation programs. In order to help them as well, the German government in cooperation with German industry created the Remembrance, Responsibility and Future Foundation in 1999. Allianz is one of the foundation's charter members. Allianz also lived up to its responsibilities through internal activities. In 1997 the company asked an independent scholar to undertake a full investigation of the company's history during the Nazi period and to publish a book on the findings.

The Allianz Centre for Technology (AZT)

Allianz begins doing loss research as early as the 1920s. With the establishment of a materials testing facility it became the first insurer to go beyond its classic area of work by engaging in preventive risk management. The first task areas are physical and chemical research, metallographical and radiogra-phic examinations as well as mechanical strength testing. In 1970 motor vehicle technology was established as the third important field of research.
These AZT research fields work towards the common aim of loss prevention and loss minimization.
In the 1990s these three institutes are bundled into two areas: motor vehicle technology and industrial technology. An entirely new research area has been opened up recently: It deals with people as a safety risk.
